Assessment

Intake assessment

Each student undergoes a content specific evaluation to assess the student’s independent level of reading comprehension, a word reading assessment to determine the level of the child’s phonetic knowledge, a general math assessment, and a spelling assessment as a part of the first one or two tutoring sessions. This information gives the Director an idea of the basic skills that might be missing and helps to focus the tutoring on the specific needs of each child. There is no additional charge for this level of assessment. During the year, the tutors will use the CompassLearning tool to assess progress and to identify student materials. Knowing what your child knows and can do makes all the difference!
